On our way to the spotting place on Lake Hjälmaren I spotted these iceicles
Me with a borrowed spotting scope. Since I bought my own I always get in trouble. What to bring? I am mostly a photographer. To see a bird 2 miles away and not have a photo is not in my interest really. Today we were supposed to walk over the lake and maybe in hip high with snow. Impossible to bring it all. So I chose the camera equipment as I was hoping for some eagleshots. It was sunny and quite nice. -15 when we left at 8.00. But it got warmer pretty quick.
So, what about the birding? We spotted some Common Redpoll in the trees. And a Common Buzzard on our way home. But sitting in the car there was no photo on that one. So... eagles?
Those who counted said there was 26 to be seen during the two hours the count was on. But they were so far away that even with my 500 mm lens, and an expander, I did not see more then the photo shows. It is possible to see probably 3 eagles and some black birds. Raven, Jackdaw or Crows. But no chance of telling if the eagles are sea eagles or bald ones.
