It does not happen too often to come this close to a colony of Sandwich Terns. Loved it. And the Puffins, they are soo charming to watch. :)

These images are from my trip to Scotland in June-July in 20012. It was a real pleasure to visit the Arctic Tern colony. Even if they liked to attack your head. They had eggs and chicks were all over the place so one had to be careful walking there. And the terns were very protective of their young of course. The last image raised questions, the tern is sitting on a mans hat.

The Shag is quite different from the cormorant we have in Sweden. At least from what I could see in Scotland.

Walking close to these birds on Staple Island in June last year was a real joy. A lovely seabird in the alca family.
