Now it is winter season. The little Coal Tit is back. Glad to see it. I never see it in summer or early fall. Glad somebody has a feeder so I can enjoy it.

This is a small rather dark goose with short and pink bill. And rare! There was a few on this location but this was the only images I was sure of the species.

As we don´t have much birds around now I thought I´g do through the birds from my trip to Scotland last year.

Koltrast - Turdus merula - Common Blackbird

About this birds I remember I didn´t really have time to shoot birds as we were leaving for an early morning trip to Aberlady Bay. It was only 6.15 in the morning and everyone was entering the car.  So, just a quick shot for documentation.

There are still only a few birds in the lake. Not at all the amount of migrating ducks there used to be. Maybe because the lake don´t have all that green stuff growing this year. The birds has nothing to eatand continue south.
A few juvenile Crested grebe still there and a Crow hunting for fish? Never seen that before. Is it common? Anyone know?

That´s it folks. This event took only one minute. The heron was able to land in the grass and the eagle had to give it up. I think the heron was safe on the ground as it can use it´s beak as a weapon then.
As a photographers point of view it was a pity that they came in back light making most of the images dark and noisy. But I will probably never see something like this again so I´m pleased anyway.

I hope you liked it too.

People are a bit strange I think. I have posted two images before and everyone feel sorry for the heron. Of course it is bad fighting for ones life. But as a reality of life I feel sorry for the eagle. It got no dinner. There are maybe a thousand grey herons in the area but only one or two eagles. And everybody love eagles, don´t they?

This is the view from the tower I was on. It has 3 floors and I was on the top one. To get the images above I used my 400mm lens and added a 2x Tele Plus. It resulted in a 800mm lens. On top of that it was a hard wind shaking the tower. Luckily I was able to have a rather short shutter speed. But considered it is no wonder the images have a lot of noise. But I am happy, it was the first time I saw them in Sweden so I got a Swedish X. There are 2 egrets, a few grey herons and geese in the images. They are in the center of the larger view image.

There seem to be a lot of confusion about where it belongs. I found no less then 2 Latin names for it: Ardea alba, casmerodius albus and Egretta alba. The confusion seem to be if they are herons or not. They can probably figure it out with DNA tests.

I was at Sjöholm to check out the Common snipes when the birds was disturbed. Looking up I had this beauty almost overhead. At first I thought it was a juvie but checking out the shots today I see it has the white tail. In the second shot, the shadow from the low sun, makes it look really weird in its head. I almost thought it was a Great Cormorant for a while. The belly and throat is in the sun but not the wings.
