I was lucky this week when I took the car to the countryside outside town. I spotted the Snow Buntings and they are quite rare. They are heading north now to breed on the tundra.
To see them in the air is easy as they "glitter" due to the bright underpart. To see them on the ground is much worse. I had to mark them to see them. :)

I finally got a shot of the Tundra swan, bad one, yes, but still a proof I´ve seen it.

First time I got shots from this bird in Sweden so I was quite happy. They were really nice to watch. :)

We saw lots of them trying to migrate. Both this couple and others. A common bird they say, but not where I live.

A Golden plover male in it´s nice breeding plumage. Photo from Storulvå Mountain 110616 and snow still present. The bird is split into southern and northern. This one is of the Northern birds. When looking at these photos it become obvious why it has the plumage it has. :)

Hannes praktdräkt kan ha vilka färger som helst. Men honan är ganska alldaglig. Tyvärr satt jag i ett gömsle så jag kunde inte smyga mig närmare.
The males breeding plumage can come in pretty much all colors. But the female seem to be rather plain. Sadly enough I was in a hiding so I could not get closer.

Strange it seems like most sightings of this bird is in captivity in zoos and such places. And that is where I saw this one. :( It was in The Marine Park of Mediterraneo in the island of Malta.
