It does not happen too often to come this close to a colony of Sandwich Terns. Loved it. And the Puffins, they are soo charming to watch. :)

On New Years Eve a lot of Magpies were gathering in the tree outside my window.  Maybe the warm weather made them believe it was breeding time already. I have noticed they come together like this in the beginning of a new year.

To have cover on ones head was needed as you can see from this images. They were quite aggressive but never targeted the face, only the head.
I like the shadow the tern cast on the wall.

These images are from my trip to Scotland in June-July in 20012. It was a real pleasure to visit the Arctic Tern colony. Even if they liked to attack your head. They had eggs and chicks were all over the place so one had to be careful walking there. And the terns were very protective of their young of course. The last image raised questions, the tern is sitting on a mans hat.

Toppskarv - Phalacrocorax aristotelis - European Shag

The Shag is quite different from the cormorant we have in Sweden. At least from what I could see in Scotland.
