Knölsvan - Cygnus olor - Mute Swan

 Mute Swan with 3 young appeared suddenly in the lake.  The pair has been here for three years during spring and summer and had no offspring before. So I was delighted.

I was surprised when I arrived to the lake a couple of days ago. I was expecting graylag geese. Instead there was about a hundred mute swans and one whooper swan. And a few ducks here and there. The swans usually gather here but not this early. Does that mean the breeding was not successful? I did not see any young birds in the group. Anyway, it was a beautiful sight. And a lot of action in the group too.

There are a few vaders also in the background. This is a very nice wetland watered by the tides. I visited the area last summer.
