Vitkindad gås - Branta leucopsis - Barnacle Goose

I was really happy to see the Barnacle goose and to find they have chicks. I hadn´t seen any this year where I usually can. Glad to see they are still here even if mpst of the birds did not have chicks.

This is a behavior I have not noticed before. The adult took a white feather from it´s belly and gave it to the young who ate it. The behaviour is mentioned in the Swedish part of wiki. It is also mentioned on What Bird but the function don´t really seem to be known.

It is fun to try to catch these guys. They leave the nest with a speed of a bullet. The female leaving the nest with dirt in her bill was not that fast. She was obviously cleaning the house. I did not see the male do it.

 The male is singing and he looks a bit peculiar below his bill. Something to do with sound maybe.

I had the pleasure of meeting with this couple a month ago. I rarely see them and especially both at the same time. The male was singing and made quite a display. The female was more shy and stayed high up in the birch.

Rödbena - Tringa totanus - Common Redshank

This common Redshank was clearly seen and heard as we arrived at the location. From what we saw it was alone  but I think it might have a nest. It was clearly disturbed by our presence. Which was strange as this place is a place for camping and boating.

Finally life is thriving in the little pond. Now it is an exciting time to see how many couple will have young and how many will survive. Today I spotted three families of Horned Grebe and one family each of the two others. And a few gulls of course.

A beautiful bird I did not see much of this winter so I was quite happy when I found it in the Nature Reserve Sörön when I visited the place in the beginning of May. It has a most unusual coloring I think.
