 Finally the White-throated Dipper has arrived from it´s northern summer habitat. I did see two of them. Probably a couple. They are great birds and fun to watch when they dive for food.

To answer Margarets question, this is the northern bird. From UK sown to Italy the bird is more brown. And scientific name is gularis, aquaticus.

The only White-throated Dipper I´ve seen this winter and I miss them.

 I was happy to see the White-throated Dipper. I did not really expect it as it has been rather warm this winter so I figured they would stay further north.

This shall actually be gularis, aquaticus not Cinclus according to my book.

We saw this Dipper in a stream hunting for food. I aded the flight shot as I did not have any before. Sorry it is not that great.

Strömstare - White-throated Dipper, a real pleasure to watch. NF Photo 110302

Trädkrypare - Tree creeper, playing hide and seek. Refusing to show it´s head. But I was so happy to see it.  The first I´ve seen all winter. At least one of them survived this harsh winter.

En strömstare jag såg i förrgår. Det var riktigt kul att studera dess förehavanden. Jag vet ju att den sökte mat, men det såg ut som m den lekte.


A white throated dipper I spotted day before yesterday. It was fun watching it. I know it was looking for food, but it looked like it was playing.
