Snösparv - Plectrophenax nivalis - Snow Bunting

Today I was lucky, came really close to these beauties. :) Not easy to spot unless you see them in the air. I counted 12 of them this time. I was able to get rather close to them so it was a nice birding obs.

Stenknäck - Coccothraustes coccothraustes - Hawfinch

A flock of Hawfinch outside my window on the third floor. I have been lucky to see them this winter. This time it was 10 of them. The largest group so far.

Male feeding the female! Can I hope for a nesting pair? Acc to the book this tree would be fine. That would be a treat. :)

I and a fried went to the coast yesterday to check on the birds. There is supposed to be a Ring-necked Duck in the harbour area. As this is an American duck it is very rare in Sweden. There was probably more then 1000 tufted ducks to chack out in order to find the Ring-necked one. We spend 4h looking for it but failed. But then, of course, half way home we got word it was sighted. My friend was not to happy then. We did not have time to turn around and go back.

Shadow Shot Sunday There are shadows here and there even if not that obvious.

I was lucky this week when I took the car to the countryside outside town. I spotted the Snow Buntings and they are quite rare. They are heading north now to breed on the tundra.
To see them in the air is easy as they "glitter" due to the bright underpart. To see them on the ground is much worse. I had to mark them to see them. :)
