Storskrake - Merganser (Goosander) and one other duck
Can´t help but wonder what it he is looking at. :)
Vigg - Tufted duck

I and a fried went to the coast yesterday to check on the birds. There is supposed to be a Ring-necked Duck in the harbour area. As this is an American duck it is very rare in Sweden. There was probably more then 1000 tufted ducks to chack out in order to find the Ring-necked one. We spend 4h looking for it but failed. But then, of course, half way home we got word it was sighted. My friend was not to happy then. We did not have time to turn around and go back.
Shadow Shot Sunday There are shadows here and there even if not that obvious.

A few birds this week

This little family saved my day. Hardly any birds anywhere and then I spotted theese in a distance. And luckily they swam my way. They were so fun to watch as they swam upstreams. When any of the hatchlings slacked behind it started to run on the water to get to mom, then jumped up on her back. You should have seen them running the watersurface. So fun. The only bad thing is they were on the other side of the stream so I could not get a closeup. :)

I found the song Trush and the Flycatcher in the forest and the Sedge Warbler sang loudly in the reed and bush at the water edge.

Ljungpipare - Pluvialis apricaria - European golden plover
These Golden Plovers was completely motionless so I did not see them until another birder showed me. I had thought it was lumps of dirt. I was not that close then. I was able to come rather close before I noticed I disturbed them. They are now up north somewhere. :)

Some of the birds I´ve seen lately. If you are interested of the trip to Hummelvik, a small fishing village at the coast, where I saw the robin, Eider and Mergansers, you can visit my Travel blog. The post is HERE
If I am not responding to comments quickly it is because I am on my way to Öland and Ottenby bird observatory, a Bird Migrating paradise in Sweden. So I hope my next weeks entry will be about that.

Last wednedsay I went to Oxelösund, as I recieved a mail the evening before that they would have a birding session at a place called Ljungskärsflagen. I have never been there so it was a great opportunity to me. It took me about 1.5h to get to the location at the coast of The Baltic Sea. It turned out to be great. Sun shining and temperature just above freezing. Some thawing going on.
We met at 13.30 and finished at 16.00. A short walk in the snow and forest with all my stuff was a bit hard though. But I managed.
Some of the scenery with a lot of Tufted ducks (viggar) on the water
A black headed gull (skrattmås) met us on the parkinglot. (ad winter)
A beautiful Common Merganser male (storskrakshane) swam in the harbour.
Some Tufted ducks (viggar) up close.
And finally I got a closer look at the Sea Eagles (havsörn) that I hardly spotted last week.
The spotting scope turned out to be quite OK. But there is limits of course. The more experienced people among us said they spotted long tailed ducks (alfågel). But I just saw some white dots riding the waves. That is what experience is for I guess. :)

Storskrakshanar över sjön - Common Merganser males over the lake
Åkte ut en sväng redan före frukost efterson solen sken och det var frostvitt. Nere vid Duveholmssjön med frost och ånga över sjön, kom dessa 5 storskrakshannar flygande. Det var vackert.
Took the bike before breakfast as the sun was shining and it was white outside. At Duveholms Lake with the frost and waterwapor over the water came these Common Merganser males flying. It was beautiful.
