Four chicks swimming and one taking a ride. And all of them sleepy.  ☺
This was a treat, I have not seen them before.

A pair of Northern Pintail was feeding at Knutstorp today. It is open ground down hill but I could get rather close before they took off. But I think it was the Lapwings that alerted them, not me.

I visted the little shallow lake Lilla Näsnares the other day. They have built a new platform for birders and I wante to check it out.

There were several pairs of Mute swan and I thought there might be nesting. There was also some Common Terns showing off :) To my pleasure.

When I checked my shots at home  I enlarged one of them and saw that the Mute swans already had chicks. I had not seen that as I did not bring my Spotting Scope. A nice surprise. Now I have to go there often as I have not seen swan young for several years.

This pair was very entertaining for a while. It is mating time for them too. I was surprised when I saw one of them lift up the tail in the same fasion as wrens do.
If you look closely at the last image you see two birds. The one to the left is the same as the bird that is landing in the image above.

We only see this bird during migration. They breed up north in Antarctic. They only make a short stop to gain weight in my area.

I love the graphic look of the male and the female is cute.

This is two different birds and now I wonder what happened, did they run out of food sources? Or jsut want to find a mate?
In my town they have taken down a lot of trees. Maybe too many? The one on the pole seem to be a male, unsure about the one on the lamp as I can´t see the neck.
