Stjärtand - Anas acuta - Northern Pintail

A pair of Northern Pintail was feeding at Knutstorp today. It is open ground down hill but I could get rather close before they took off. But I think it was the Lapwings that alerted them, not me.

Fisktärna - Sterna hirundo - Common Tern

I am always happy when the terns arrive in spring. I love everything about them and love trying to catch them in flight. They are quick and a challenge to capture. Today however they stayed put on the poles in the company of a little wagtail. Next time, maybe, I get some fun. :)

Tofsvipa - Vanellus vanellus - Northern Lapwing

This is a most interesting bird to watch. Especially when they take to the air. To see the flock change between white and black is stunning. They glitter in the air. These are gathering before starting the migration southwards.

I was up early this morning to capture mist and sunrise. The sun was still low when I spotted this juvenile Northern Weatear. The low sun made it´s color so soft and rich. I did not see any adults so I guess this one was on it´s own. It will soon turn south as fall is approaching.

This one scared the h-l out of me. I had not seen him and he flew up right beside me and darted away in front of me. When he was gone I just wondered what the h-k happened .

Looking at the images he does not look that pretty. Seem to be molting. Probably the same one I saw two weeks ago.

I saw this "liftoff" when I arrived to Knutstorp.  Looking up I spotted a Marsh Harrier but it was too far away to get a shot. It took a bout 5 min till the Lapwings settled again and I could get closer.

This individual was not shy at all. Stayed rather close for at least 15 minutes. I loved the way it stretched it´s neck. First time I have seen that.   :)

This summer I found the waders in another place as they usually are. The water was to deep at the place they used to be. But I liked the change. This place is more open so it is easier to see them.

First time I was so close to the Green Sandpiper. I spotted it behind some grass and I was afraid to move to scare it away. In the last shot it got some company. A juvenile White wagtail.  :)

Tornseglare - Apus apus - Common Swift

One of my top ten favorites among birds. The Swift. I like the sound from them, I like the look, I like the challenge to capture them. They never sit down. They fly straight in to the nest without hesitation. Like a bullet. And turnes like crazy in mid air.

This day I was lucky :) I can take a hundred images and one is good. They also serve as a measure of my brain and reaction times. As long as I can capture them I am still "young" despite what the number of years tells me. I only wish they were here a little bit longer. 2.5 months is too little.
