In the end of July the Lapwings are gathering. When they take to the wings they actually glitters in the sky.

Fiskgjuse - Pandion haliaetus - Osprey

I took a day trip to Hjälstaviken to try to catch Bearded Reedling. But they did not appear at all. Luckily somebody else did. With a catch of it´s own. So, like the Osprey, I did not go home empty handed.

This day I was really out trying to get shots of the Grey Wagtail that stays a couple of km from my home. (a post of it HERE) Then, out of the blue, literally, this beauty landed on a dead birch just a few meters in front of me. And a perfectly fit in my camera lens too. Some days you are lucky. The last shot it passed me rather close.

Birding today

This is one of the places outside town where I can see some migrating birds.

Årta - Anas querquedula - Garganey

In that pond I saw this annoying bird today. So hard to get a shot of it. Every time I push the trigger it is gone. It is a small duck and hides in the grass or reed. And don´t want to be shot at. :(

Leaving the place I heard a sound above. Looking up to see this osprey. :)

Sävsparv – emberiza schoeniclus - Reed Bunting
Next place I found this reed bunting singing his heart out. I did not see if there were any females around to hear it.

Svarthakedopping - Podiceps auritus - Horned Grebe

The grebes went golden. I forgot to change the white balance. It was set to shadow and the sun was shining. I think that made this golden color. I kind of like it though, it suits the birds. :)
