Smalnäbbad simsnäppa - Phalaropus lobatus - Red-necked Phalarope

The birds are in full breeding plumage. And one pair mating. This is such a beautiful and interesting bird. Most of them breed up north in the mountain range. It is not that common. It is a wader, but it swims when they search or food. It seems like the male sits on the eggs and cares for the chicks while the female goes back south.

    Hi there - thanks for the visit to my blog. Did some research - yes the sunbirds do feed on nectar. But also found out that they hover like humming birds (although not as well) - which I did not know. Thanks for making me find out!

    Vackra fåglar och det är även dina bilder av dem. Eftersom du verkar känna till de flesta fåglar tänkte jag att du kanske kan namnge den jag har på bloggen idag, jag är inte så duktig på alla olika småfåglar... :) Ha det så bra.
