Warblers for WBW

In the darknes of the forest a bird is singing. It took me a long while to locate it. I got one decent shot of it. But as I am bad on the songs I had to take the ID from a video where I could recognize the song. It is a Grönsångare - Phylloscopus sibilatrix - Wood Warbler

This bird too is a "hard to get" bird. Moving constantly among the reeds.  As soon as you locate it it is moving. These are the only ones I´ve seen of those species this year. So far anyway.

These are a few of the common birds around here. The wagtail is one of the first to arrive in early spring. It is always welcome. It is said they can bring up thre broods in a good season.
The flycatacher arrives in early may. It is not that common. You have to know where to find them.
And then the greylag goose. They are almost everywhere. Chicks now about a week old.

As we are supposed to report every Horned grebe and its actions this season I keep a closer watch on them. There are now 4 nests in that wetland. Two are rather well hidden and two are open and quite close to traffic. The first pair has been sitting on eggs for about two weeks now. Maybe it is soon time for hatching. I have no information of how long they sit.

Stock Dove on youtube

Sometimes I am just plain stupid. This blog is about the spieces I have captured "on film". Yet I totally missed this dove. Sure, it is just a dove. Isn´t it what we think about them? Yesterday I spotted some doves feeding on a field. I got a hunch and turned the car around. Of course, doing so, most of the doves left. But two of them remained. I took a shot of both of them. I got one shot of this one. And it turned out to be one I don´t have in the blog. So it is a "bloglifer". Maybe it is time to look more carefully in flocks and not just disgard them.

It is a sad year in Sweden. Lots of birds are missing as it seems. Or they are more quiet. I don´t know.  At least this is the first year I really have to work hard  to see any at all. :(

Today I accidently found a pair of treecreeper coming with food to chicks. A very busy pair. To bad I could not see the young ones. It was interesting to see that the birds behaviour had changed a bit. They were more active and not so close to the tree as they normally are.

Today I got some shots that shows the Gadwal female in flight. The red markings on the wings does not show when she is on the ground or swimming. Rather nice coloring I think.  :)

This event occured a month ago. I really should go back to see if there are any ducklings around.

If you like grebes and ducks you really should look at the post before this one.

This was actually fun to watch. That tiny Grebe chasing the Pochard. It was the first time I have seen that little one so agressive. You can see the differens in size in the third photo.

This year the Swedish Bird association SOF will take inventory on the Horned Grebe. Shall be much to report for me I hope. Last year there were 3 couple breeding in this wetland. And the young are so cute. Normally this grebe is quite rare in Sweden.
