Vitkindad gås - Branta leucopsis - Barnacle Goose

Click to see with Light box
This is a rare sight nowadays. We call them heystacks. I was happy the geese grazed in front of them. A great opportunity for a shot.

The  Barnacle Goose seems to thrive in the heat. This seems to be an adult and two young ones.

Well. finally, all of the geeze decided that a swim is good!

This place is a mix of Nature Reserve and old times farming. A great opportunity for swimming and tanning and learning a lot of things doing it. :)

There are a ruin of an old church about 20km from my town. Many swifts comes here for breeding so it is a great place to try to catch them. But it is a challenge and that´s why it is fun. They moves quickly between trees, stonewalls and the church tower. They are nesting everywhere on this ruin. You can see them swap into a nest but you can never catch it. Unless you put a videocamera running. And I don´t have one.
Last one not great, but fun, captured in the middle of a turn. And they turn quickly. :)

The Common Moorhen family share the same area with a Eurasian Coot family. As soon as the last of the Moorhen hatchling was hatched there was trouble between the two adults of both species. But it did not seem like anybody was hurt though.

Finally the Moorhen came out. First day I saw only one young. The next day they there were five of them.  Now I will have something to watch for a couple of weeks. :) They are quite hard to catch so it is a challenge. They are in the reed popping in and out and a lot of bushes in the way.

Mute Swan with 3 young appeared suddenly in the lake.  The pair has been here for three years during spring and summer and had no offspring before. So I was delighted.

I had a request of reopening NF Winged. If you are interested in that please make a comment at:

A lone male arrived at one of the small ponds. It seemed quite lost among all mallards and coots. It stayed for a week and then left.

Svarthakedopping - Podiceps auritus - Horned Grebe

 Hey, who is down there?

Dad, or is it mom, you have such big feet!

But your wings are small. How can you fly with them?

I´m hungry!

OK, will get you some food.

eh!!!!

I was waiting and waiting. The Horned Grebe seemed to have disappeared. So I gave up on the pleasure to be able to follow some young ones this summer. But then, the last day of June I spotted one on the other side of the little lake. Too far away for shots. But then the family came closer. Both parents and one young. And closer they came. It was like they wanted to show off. Yes, here we are and we have one baby. Enjoy!

I saw them today as well on the farther side of the lake. The little one has grown a lot. And now there are another family with one young on the other side of the road. There is a road going right in the middle of the little lake. So now one family on each side. Happy me!

And, also another good thing happened yesterday. I spotted the Common Moorhen with 5 newly hatched too. Images will be posted later on of them.

First time I´ve seen a young crane this small.  I love the orange color of it´s head. I also glimpsed the other parent in the reed and maybe another young. But of that I´m not sure.
