Too few this spring

Trana - Grus grus - Common crane

Bläsand - Anas Penelope - Eurasian Wigeon
Skedand - anas clypeata - Northern shoveler

Kricka - Anas crecca - Eurasian Teal

Too few? Yes, this is a bad year for birding in my area. Where there usually are lots of birds dotting the water surface I only see a few. One pair of the Northern Shoveler and two pairs of the Wigeon. Not much :(

I wonder if this is the new way of things?

A lone male arrived at one of the small ponds. It seemed quite lost among all mallards and coots. It stayed for a week and then left.

This is a beautiful bird. As they are gathering like his you are able to see many of their different plumages. A problem with trying to take shots at this kind of birds is that most of them have their heads in the water as they are foragering.
