NF Photo 111002 + 111003 in Falsterbo
This is a bird belonging to the crow family. We only have this bird in the southern part of Sweden so I had not seen it until I visited Falsterbo. But there it is a rather common bird. Which gave me some trouble. This bird did not go to the places we went with the group. It is a "city-dweller" I guess. And the guide did not want to stop the bus because of that common bird. But it is only common at that location. It took me 3 days to get some shots. I would have been pissed if I did not get a shot for the blog. Going home without a shot of a common bird? It happened to me twice before and I did not like it.
I think it is a great bird, just check out the beak!

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got your photos of the bird. "Common" for one place is definitely "uncommon" for another.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots. They're quite common here, but still a great bird to see.
ReplyDeleteVery stout beak on that bird! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteCommon but impressive!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

ReplyDeleteI like the way it looks like he has a pair of trousers!
ReplyDeleteRooks were always the first birds to start nesting in the spring back in the UK - I would walk past a rookery on the way home from school. Always a very talkative place.

ReplyDeleteLOL...sometimes it is HARD to get a shot of any bird even a common one, but you got some great ones. I wonder if they are as smart as crows. ramblingwoods
ReplyDeleteYour experience has taught you the relative meaning of "common." Not an easy to bird to shoot either looking at those dark feathers. That beak is so imposing! I hope your readers are taking your advise and clicking to enlarge these great photos.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
