Styltlöpare - Himantopus himantopus - Black-winged Stilt
NF Photo 110423 on Gozo, Malta

I visited Malta 2 months ago. There were not many birds but I did see these Stilts flying back and forth for a long time. It was nice watching them as I usually see them walking in the water.

  1. Nice photos. We have Black-winged Stilts out here in Australia too - they look similar to yours. They are beautiful when they are flying too.

Same here - I usually see them wading, and individually, not in groups. Nice to capture this different view.

  3. As you remark, Black-winged Stilts are wonderful to watch in flight, like black and white geometric shapes with the bright red streamers of their tails. Thanks for reminding me.

  4. Fina bilder :) Det var lite kul att se alla de orange ben som var helt raka i luften :)
