This sparrow is closely related to the European House Sparrow. The male has brown head and white cheeks. The House Sparrow has grey head and light grey cheeks. The female resembles the House Sparrow female. They say the Italian is a hybrid between the Spanish Sparrow and the House Sparrow.

    Nice set of photos. They look a lot like our house sparrows (passer domesticus), too. Particularly the male, with that black chest patch.
