Water fowl Good and bad

Sothöna - Fulica atra - Eurasian Coot
The two on the image is not the same family. The Ad probably thought the baby got too close and chased it away. As you can see the Ad bites the baby around the neck. It came out unharmed though. This might be the same Ad individual that robbed the nest of Black-headed gulls two weeks ago. Is it bad behaviour of one individual or is it common among Coots? I have never seen it bfore.

Rörhöna - Gallinula chloropus - Common Moorhen
This one never comes close enough for a decent shot. I have only seen one but there is probably two. Have not seen any chicks yet.

Knipa - Bucephala clangula - Common Goldeneye
A beautiful family, isn´t it?

  5. Wow--so interesting! I'm glad the baby wasn't harmed. Great pictures, especially that last more calm scene. :-)

  6. Vitögd dykand ses då och då i Sverige även om den inte är normalt häckande här. Eller så är rapporteringar om detta fel.
