Evening birding with KVO and a Pygme owl

Thursday evening our outdoor sessions with the birding union  KVO, started. Not the best of days I would  say. Rather cold and rainy.

A misty view of the first wetland we visited. At Tybblefälten.

But we did see some birds. Whooper swans and Bean goose was present.  

Then people started to get cold so they enjoyed a cup of warm coffee or other warm drinks of their choise. We had moved to another location to look for Pygme owl.

And here it is, sitting on a branch high up. Overlooking the party down below. :)

Language - Språk

Då det bara är två svenskar som kommenterar på bloggen kommer jag f.o.m nu att bara skriva på engelska. Jag har lagt in en översättare i sidlisten för den som vill ha ett annat språk.

As there are only two Swedes that are commenting on my blog I will  write in english only from now on. I have aded a Translator in the sidebar if needed.

Kvalité på bilder - Quality of photographs

Det här är ju lite frustrerande. Visst är jag glad över att jag fick en bild på bergfinken. Jag blev bara så irriterad på några individer på Artportalen. Man hinner knappt lägga in bilden förrän någon har varit där och gett den en etta i betyg, sämst alltså. Istället för att konfirmera att jag gav den rätt ID. Nu blev det ju en diskussion i alla fall efter att jag surnat till. Och jag hade rätt.

Men varför måste alla bilder var skolboksbra? När jag ser fåglarna ser dom sällan ut som i böckerna. Eller på tjusiga fågel foto  sidor.  För de har en massa hyss för sig och står i allsjöns vinklar. Och aldrig, säger aldrig, ser jag vartenda fjäderdun i verkligheten.

Jag tycker alla bilder av fåglars dagliga liv behövs för att kunna artbestämma en fågel som sitter högt uppe i en björk. Och hur den ser ut då.
Nu är jag klar :)

This is a bit frustrating. Of course I am happy for the photo of the Brambling. I just got annoyed of some individuals on Artportalen and let it shine throuh. You hardly posted the image before somebody rated it as 1, the worst quality. Instead of telling me I had in fact ID:ed it right, or  wrong. I got pissed and told them so. After that some people started to discuss the photo and the conclusion was I was right about it.

But why has every photo look like it was from a textbook on birds? Or from fancy Birding homepages? In real life that is never how I see the birds. Because they always do something different. And never, say never, can I see all the details in the feathers.

I think every image of the birds "daily life" and the way it is seen is needed.
Now I am done.

Fågelguiden - Birdguide

Nu har jag äntligen fått boken. Den nya Fågelguiden! Nu slipper jag springa ner på biblioteket i tid och otid för att låna den. Den kommer att bli min ständiga följeslagare de närmsta åren. En viktig ingrediens i packningen.

Finally, the new edition of Fågelguiden ( Birdguide) was in the mail today. Now I don´t have to bike to the library to borrow it. It will be my companion the next couple of years. An important part of the backpack.

Nu har jag fått min tubkikare. Jag skickade efter en som en julklapp till mig själv. Pg av den myckna snön har jag inte kunnat testa det så mycket. Men jag såg i alla fall storskrakarna på andra sidan sjön. De är fortfarande här trots kylan. Så, det verkar ju lovande.

I have recieved the spotting scope I  ordered as a x-mas present for myself. Due to the large amount of snow I ahve not been able to evaluate it properly. But I did see what dots was swimming on the other side of the lake. It was mergansers. Still here despite the cold.

Phew finally done - Puh äntligen klar

Nu är jag äntligen klar. Jag hittade 77 st olika arter i mitt bildarkiv. Det har tagit mycket tid att fixa bilderna och hitta relevant text. Nu börjar det roliga, att uppdatera med nya arter och att hälsa på hos skådarvänners bloggar runt om i världen.

I am finally done. I found 77 differnt species in my image archive. It has taken much time to manipulate images for posting and to find relevant data about them. Now comes the fun part, to update with new species and to visit birding friends blogs all over the world.

Klart - Finished

Nu har jag äntligen fått in de fåglar jag vet att jag hade bland mina bilder. 69 st blev det. Nu kommer jag inte att uppdatera lika ofta här. Men jag hoppas ju få fler arter och bättre bilder. I Sverige finns ju runt 300 arter så det finns ju lite kvar att upptäcka. Och fågelutmaningen är ju skoj.

I am finally finished posting what species I knew I had among my photos. I ended up with 69 different ones. From now on I will not update as often as I have done now. But I hope I will catch new species and better images to post here. Sweden have around 300 species so there are still a lot to discover. And there is the bird challenge.
