Gräsand - Anas platyrhynchos - Mallard

A moulting male to the right and one that seems to be a hybrid of Mallard and Merganser.

The mallard is too common to really give that wow factor. You see them so much you don´t really look at them. But what do you say about this? Every now and then there comes someone different.

  8. I agree about the something different! I simply enjoy watching all birds! If I find differences in the most common varieties, that is a wow factor! You have done just that! Great photos!

  11. Got Nytt År på dig! Många av de här avvikande änderna kommer från Öster-Malma har jag hört. Där har de tydligen blandat om lite för en del år sedan och det fortsätter att visa sig på vissa ex.Men det kan säkert dyka upp spontana färgändringar också.Det här urblekta tillståndet kallas för leucism. Jag kommer ihåg när jag såg en sådan sånglärka. Jag funderade länge på vad det var för slags lärka innan jag kom på lösningen.
