Nötväcka - Sitta europaea - Eurasian Nuthatch
NF Photo 101225

This little Nuthatch sat on my balcony. It radiates a little sadness I think. Maybe it does not like this harsh winter that we have. I can´t remember seeing one in this position before. They are usually elongated. (I think it is the right word for it)

  1. It is a cute Nuthatch, it reminds me of the Brown headed Nuthatch seen here. Wonderful photos.

  2. Yes, I think elongated IS the right word. I was about to comment about how the nuthatches around here look a lot different, but this little one is maybe just trying to keep warm?

  3. Vacker fågel!
Nu hoppas jag inför det nya året få några "nya" fågelarter i min lins, får se hur det går!
    Ha det gott! /Bea

  4. Beautiful shots of the Eurasian Nuthatch. I think all birds look a bit fluffed up this time of year. It keeps them warm.

  5. Marvelous pictures! He does look sad -- in the top picture especially. If he is the same as the nuthatches I see when we are in Oregon, he usually would be climbing up and down a tree trunk -- and elongated would be a good word for him then! Thank you for sharing.
